A: At present, Manitoba Health does not cover head and neck treatment by dentists, even though the medical profession is unable to perform these procedures.

Q: Is it covered by my dental insurance?

A: This will be determined at the time of consultation. In any event, a pre-determination request can be sent to your insurance provider.

Q: How much does Dr. Fleisher’s therapy cost?

A: The initial consultation is approximately $82.00 and is about one hour. The complexity of further treatment will determine the final cost and would be discussed.

Q: Are there any guarantees regarding this treatment?

A: With patient compliance, this treatment is unconditionally guaranteed.

Q: What kind of Doctor is Dr. Fleisher?

A: Dr. Fleisher is a dentist who has been successfully treating head and neck pain patients for over 35 years.

Q: Why are my symptoms made worse by my nighttime appliance?

A: Your nighttime guard (splint) is not customized and precise and is made in a dental lab. Dr. Fleisher makes the splint in his own office and is fitted immediately.

Q: I wear dentures and am having most of the symptoms described, can I be helped?

A: The brain does not know you are wearing a denture and thinks that these are your natural teeth. Short answer is probably yes.

Q: How long will treatment take?

A: If you are a candidate for treatment, you will see positive results in the first appointment. Complete satisfaction is usually attained in four to six weeks, with pain decreasing over this time.

Q: Why did my problems start when I had a filling done or a crown placed?

A: The explanation is complex, but it is quite possible that the filling prevented your jaws from closing correctly. Also, it is quite possible that you were having clenching problems prior and the filling or crown acted as a trigger.

Q: Could the symptoms you’re describing be from my car accident?

A: Yes, however, quite possibly, whiplash to your neck is the initiating factor.

A: Myofascial Pain Dysfunction (MPD) is a disorder of the muscles, tooth contact and clenching. Treatment always involves the temporomandibular joint.

Q: Could my headaches be caused by MPD or AFN?

A: Yes, it is possible that your headaches may be caused by or made worse by a condition such as MPD or AFN.

Q: If I don’t seek treatment, can my condition worsen?

A: Though it is impossible to say with certainty, without treatment, your symptoms and pain can worsen with time.
